Since the revelations of widespread sexual abuse and its cover-up in the Catholic Church, the public is rightly interested in the record of bishops in dealing with sex abuse issues.
A recent article in the National Catholic Reporter (NCR) tries to make the case that Cardinal Robert McElroy, newly appointed as archbishop to the highly influential Archdiocese of Washington, has not been guilty of covering-up sexual abuse. It does not succeed.
