V7 The rich rules over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Dave Ramsey favorite quotes and it is abundantly true. If you have payments you are not free, you are indebted to someone else. The interest is a clear sign of that. Turned his life and millions of lives around.
Wisdom, wealth, moral instruction. Generosity. More money to be made. Feel trapped to credit cards companies, loans. Trust in the Lord operate from generosity instead scarcity.
Generous spirit, be useful to others, advancing life reaps a reward spiritual and material reward.
V 9 He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed,
for he shares his bread with the poor.
Bountiful eye, generous. Good denotes desirable quality of being useful and advancing life, and eye reveals a person’s character and disposition.[1]
V 11 He who loves purity of heart,
and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend
Thinking of our words, intentional speaking with kindness and graciousness. Amazed at relationships by being kind and approachable. Opportunities astound me. Found a job because of a friend, met another man hoping to work with him. Liked my attitude. Truth in this verse.
Humble & fear of the Lord v4
In a very broad sense
V 15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,
but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
I have been around children who have not had discipline and they are little tyrants.
Folly incurs the Lord’s curse (v14b deep pit, hell) eternal death. The loving father seeks to mitigate a greater suffering by use of a lighter one. (Eph 2:3)
English proverb Spare the rod and spoil the child derived in part from this verse
Bring hell upon ourselves by our own actions.
V16 16 Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth,
or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.
Jesus ministry among poor and outcast. Free the oppressed. Wealth relational wealth. Relationships deep. Intentionally went to poor and outcast. Tax collectors rich and still outcasts. The beauty and wisdom of Jesus.
