Just six days before he allegedly participated in a deadly crash-and-grab on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile that killed a father-to-be, Kellen McMiller — who had active warrants in four states — posed for a photo with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker at a community “peacekeeper” event
According to CWB Chicago, 35-year-old Kellen McMiller was one of the men charged in the September 11 theft and fatal crash on Michigan Avenue that killed 40-year-old Mark Arceta. Despite having outstanding warrants, McMiller was able to stand directly next to the governor during a public anti-violence event on September 5.
The governor’s office later removed the photo from its press release.
This incident raises serious questions about vetting processes for individuals participating in publicly funded “peacekeeper” programs and highlights ongoing issues with crime, accountability, and political optics in Chicago.
