Authentic Gratitude VIII

  1. Counter both vice and spiritual desolation, is an awareness to exercise the will and choose a heart of gratitude.

Evagrius of Pontus (Talk Back) 346-399 included acedia among the eight trains of thought that needed to be overcome by devout Christians. Among these, acedia was considered the most insidious. It attacked only after monks had conquered the sins of gluttony, fornication, avarice, sadness, anger, vainglory (vanity of one’s own performance a type of pride), and pride.[1]

Dan Burke highest form of love of God is the use of will to Trust in God. Gratitude is a part of this trust.
