Abandonment to Divine Providence VIII

Note this is not Gnosticism, devaluing the needs of the body. Also not Deism a popular heresy of the 1700’s. God not only creates but sustains that which He has created. Not a clockmaker, winds up the clock, then departs.

VII. Exhortation Sometimes the aspect of God’s providence is what we need. Maybe a loss of job or other material trial. Though I do not suggest that is only what Fr De Caussade meant, our modern English gives a better appropriation of that term. Other times, when we face the drudgery of living, cooking, reports, leaning on Bro Lawrence’s terminology might be a better fit.

The Lord knows our littleness. In humility accept His benevolence in the manner best suited for you.

God all good loving longs to be near us. We can freely choose Him. Confidence to abandon our needs to His Providence. No matter the situation always a hopeful people, how is God is loving us. More engaged, trying to discern God’s will.

True engagement, not neutral.

State in life, what are we called to? A cloistered nun is different than a mother of 10 children.

Our Lord can pull things together.

>> The keynote of Fr de Caussade direction of souls was abandonment complete and absolute to Divine Providence which he promises peace and holiness to every soul, however simple, if it has an upright intention and a good will.[1]
